Control and Certification
The Control and Certification (Direcção de Serviços de Controlo e Regulamentação Vitivinícola - DSCC) is the operative service of the IVBAM which is responsible for the coordination and supervision of the production and commerce of wines and all other products of vinic nature and origin, as well as spirituous drinks produced in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (RAM). It is also the competence of this service, in cooperation with other entities, to control and supervise aids to the wine sector, to that of spirituous drinks, and to the sugarcane syrup from Madeira.
As the IVBAM is the certifying entity of Madeira Wine, it proceeds via the DSCC to all the physical and administrative controls that are necessary, issuing documentation relating to the expedition and export of wines and spirituous drinks produced in the RAM.
Through this Service, the IVBAM also controls the stocks in the wine and spirituous drink producing companies of the RAM and is equally responsible for the issuing of certificates of assay of origin, for the attribution of the lead seals that are necessary for the commercialisation of Madeira Wine and all the other vinic products as well as for the approval of the labels and packaging used.
