Madeira Wine at Big Fortified Tasting/London

On April 20th, Madeira Wine was promoted at the Big Fortified Tasting (BFT), which took place in London This action was guided by the Madeira Wine, Embroidery and Handicraft Institute (IVBAM) together with six Madeira Wine economic agents, namely: Justino's Madeira Wines, Henriques & Henriques, Madeira Wine Company, Vinhos Barbeito, Pereira D'Oliveira and Madeira Vintners.

BFT is the largest and most diverse annual fair dedicated to fortified wines, bringing together a wide range of producers from around the world, including Port Wine, Madeira Wine, Sherry, Banyuls, Moscatel de Setúbal and fortified wines from Australia. In 2022, it brought together a total of 58 producers, from 7 wine regions, for a total of 300 wines.

It should be noted that the BFT takes place in an iconic location, the Church House, in Westminster, in a vibrant atmosphere, where, in addition to wine tasting, visitors have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge, through masterclasses given by the producers participating in the event.

For the Madeira Wine sector, participating in the BFT represents a commitment focused on a reference location where the main agents of the wine sector from all over the world gather. Producers, representatives of Horeca channel, importers, journalists, sommeliers, among other relevant agents, exchange experiences and contacts that potentiate and reinforce commercial ties that will potentiate the growth of the sector, which is why this participation is of great interest.

This joint action by IVBAM with Madeira Wine producers also strengthens the commitment to promoting Madeira Wine in the English market, which last year represented the 4th largest market in terms of sales, generating revenues worth €1,725,498 , for a total of 217 165 litres.
