The Madeira Wine, Embroidery and Handicrafts Institute (IVBAM) is participating in this year’s edition of the gastronomic festival “Saborea Madeira, a journey through taste”, with two tastings of Madeira Wines, one of fortified wine and the other of still wine, an invitation of the Regional Secretariat of Tourism and Culture, the organizer of the event.

The Madeira Wine tasting took place on the 14th of july and the Still Wines from Madeira will take place on the 19th, at 6pm. These tastings are ministered by Rubina Vieira, responsible for the Educational Actions Office at IVBAM and last 45 minutes, limited to around 30 people.

Participating in this initiative, through the donation of wines, are the economic agents: HM Borges Sucrs, D'Oliveiras, Justino's Madeira Wines, Barbeito Madeira Wines, Madeira Wine Company (Blandy´s), Henriques & Henriques, CAF-Madeira Vintners, Seixal Wines – Terras do Avô, Elsa Ferreira (Pedra de Fogo), Casa do Caramanchão (Boneca de Canudo), Seiçal and Quinta do Barbusano.

The gastronomic festival “Saborea Madeira” is part of the Saborea project, which aims to position Macaronesia as a gastronomic destination, generating a positive impact at an economic, environmental and social level, reviving and promoting the gastronomic and cultural ties of the constituent archipelagos of Macaronesia (origin dishes, products, techniques, etc.). Several routes of Madeiran products are associated with this festival, more specifically couscous, grass peas, shellfish and molluscs, fish, convent sweets, fruit, tubers and bread, products that will be sold in the stands present at the festival.

It is taking place in Praça do Povo, in Funchal, from the 14th to the 23rd of July, between 16:00 and 00:00, with gastronomy, showcooking and lots of entertainment, in an informal environment, conducive to the exchange of experiences and cultures, an environment that by tradition attracts many tourists and locals.

For IVBAM, taking into account the dynamic and attractive nature of this event, this participation represents an exceptional opportunity to publicize and promote Madeira Wines to a wide audience, reinforcing the association of our wines with the gastronomy and culture of Madeira.
